Après le Burkina et le Niger, les douanes togolaises et béninoises sont connectées via le Système interconnecté de gestion des marchandises en transit (SIGMAT). Le constat a été fait mardi au poste-frontière de Sanvee-Condji / Hilla-Condji.
L’objectif est de faciliter les échanges entre les systèmes douaniers du Togo et du Bénin. En effet, le dispositif SIGMAT vise à établir un réseau d’échanges entre les pays de l’Afrique de l’ouest. Techniquement, les marchandises seront suivies depuis leur lieu de départ jusqu’à destination. L’outil permet aussi de réduire les temps de passage aux postes de contrôles juxtaposés, de faciliter l’intégration des économies de la région et de sécuriser la chaîne logistique tout en luttant contre la fraude.
Pour le commissaire des douanes Atta-Kakra Essien, cette nouvelle interconnexion devrait permettre de fluidifier les échanges entre les deux pays et d’offrir des cadres modernes aux opérateurs économiques.
En rappel, un protocole d’accord a été signé en 2019 entre le Togo, le Burkina Faso et le Niger pour la mise en vigueur du SIGMAT entre ces trois pays.
